A pioneer of modern management movement in India, Dr.Atthreya has many firsts to his credit. The list will include the Management Study Group (the precursor to the Bombay Management Association) which he set up in 1952, He is the FIRST professional management consultant of India (1954), first to organize continuing educational programmes (1955), first to organize a residential Top Management programme (1956), first to organize the visits of foreign management experts to India (1960), first to offer executive selection consultancy (1960), first to publish management books for the Indian context (1965), first to publish a management monthly (1963), and first to start the Human Excellence Movement in the country (1967). And he has a few more firsts to his credit..

A professional problem solver, learning facilitator, key note speaker, executive coach, author and concerned citizen, his special contributions are in the area of Holistic well-being, Learning to learn, Role Excellence, Management by Implications, Spirituality in the Workplace, Waste reduction, Delivery end point of view and Tiny Enterprise as a career option.

Atthreya holds a masters in Mathematics (Madras University), a doctorate in Business Administration Bombay University), and has professional diplomas from the Institute of Industrial Administration, British Institute of Management and Institute of Management and Cost Accountants.

Dr.Atthreya is the author of over 25 books on many aspects of leadership, modern management and professional skills enhancement. He founded and has been the editor of a monthly management digest, Management Ideas since 1963.

Professor Atthreya is an innovative educator on organizational, managerial and personal growth. Since 1956, he has been heading a post experience continued education center, MMC School of Management. He has conducted workshops and seminars for several hundred organizations, on a variety of topics, and to many levels of personnel. He has been a visiting/adjunct professor to centers of higher learning in India and abroad.

To be fair to his calling, he spends part of the year as a student, – he takes time off to attend programmes, to make study tours and do applied research. He is constantly innovating so that the learning process can be a joy.

Dr.Atthreya is a pioneer management consultant who started the professional firm Modern Management Counsel in 1954, after a year of training with WD Scott & Co. P. Ltd. Sydney, Australia. He is a founder secretary and a past president of the Management Consultants Association of India. In knowledgeable circles, he is called “Mr.Idea”. His company’s philosophy is ‘complementing and supplementing concerned Management’. The outputs he seeks are more and more value for the customer, less and less waste for the organization, and greater and greater sense of well being for the individual and the community at large. He is an independent director of a few public limited companies.

Atthreya is a concerned and public spirited citizen. He is the founder and Hon. Director of the Indian Centre for Encouraging Excellence. (To salute soldiers/savants of human excellence, he has arranged more than 20 Acme Excellence Awards). He has served on a number of educational, professional and government committees. He has been an active Jaycee and Rotarian. He donates his professional services to non-profit organizations like schools, hospitals and ashrams for several weeks in a year.
